2. What Data We Collect

When you use MatchMyCouch, the following data may be processed:

  • IP address (via server logs)
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and time of visit
  • Language and country preferences (stored locally in your browser)
  • Cookies set by third-party services (see below)
  • Payment data processed by Stripe (name, email, payment method — see section 4)

3. Purpose and Legal Basis

Data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Providing and improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)
  • Processing payments and managing Premium subscriptions (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR)
  • Displaying personalized advertisements via Google AdSense (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR)
  • Analysing usage to improve user experience (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)

4. Third-Party Services

TMDB

We use the TMDB API to retrieve movie and TV show data. No personal data is transmitted to TMDB. For more information visit themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.

Stripe

For Premium subscriptions, we use Stripe, Inc., 510 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA, and Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Dublin, Ireland.

When you purchase a Premium subscription, you are redirected to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Your payment data is entered directly on Stripe's infrastructure and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Stripe may transfer data to the United States. Stripe is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. For more information visit stripe.com/privacy.

We receive confirmation of successful payments from Stripe via webhook. This confirmation contains your email address and subscription status, used solely to activate your Premium access. In accordance with §19 UStG, we do not charge VAT.

You can cancel your subscription at any time via your account page or by contacting us at support@overclockedmindstudios.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Google AdSense

This website uses Google AdSense (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA, USA). Google AdSense uses cookies to display ads. Ads are only shown to non-Premium users. You may opt out at google.com/settings/ads. For more information visit policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Cookies and localStorage

MatchMyCouch stores your language and country preferences in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. Third-party cookies may be set by Google AdSense — you will be asked for consent before activation. Stripe may set cookies on their hosted checkout page.

6. Data Retention

Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days. localStorage data remains on your device until you clear your browser data. Subscription-related data is retained for as long as your account exists and for up to 10 years thereafter as required by German law (§257 HGB, §147 AO).

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
